Meet the Nigerian siblings building a fashion empire on Instagram

Modupeola Sonuyi, 31, always wanted to own a fashion business. But after an earlier clothing business failed to get off the ground, she went to graduate school and became a nurse practitioner.

Last year, she decided to try again. This time, with her four siblings with whom she had grown up in Orange County, California, USA.

As children of Nigerian immigrants they all grew up wearing African clothes, and she liked the idea of promoting a pan-African culture to African-Americans who might not have that connection.

Nine months later, the startup, Aso Dara, has made up to $50,000 in sales and is building a direct-to-consumer business almost entirely on Instagram.

In this interesting interview on the Forbes website, Modupeola shares the story of their journey and how the business is faring.
